Melbourne Central is a retail complex spanning two city blocks in Melbourne CBD. The centre contains restaurants, cafes, a cinema complex and over 160 speciality shops on a total of six levels.

In 1999 an existing “Siemens 600” system was upgraded to a state of the art Alerton BACtalk, and included supply and installation of 940 new DDC controllers. Alerton BACtalk BAS was extended to provide comprehensive control of lighting, air conditioning and monitoring other building services.

The upgrade has produced a significant reduction in energy consumption. The $1.2M project was completed in six month and ensured that the facility would not be subject to proprietary obsolescence in future.
