Project: Swinburne University, Melbourne First Australian university to install the open communication platform BACnet® for an integrated building automation system into its facilities. Frustrated by proprietary lock-in and vendor initiated obsolescence, in 1996 the Swinburne facility team identified the need for an integrated building management system to control their multiple campuses efficiently and effectively. Scope: Implementation of a fully integrated building automation system for Swinburne's five main campuses and 42 buildings, using the open BACnet® protocol as a common communication framework. This provides event management with reporting and routing of critical alarms and events. The real time energy management system allows for monitoring and forecasting of facility energy consumption.
